Ubud, The Town of Love

Ubud is recognized one of the most popular Balinese attractions spot. Being in the heart of Gianyar’s main must-see-tourism-space, Ubud is blended with gifted natural surroundings, preserved Balinese culture, strong and long-running Balinese local monarchy system, and sacred and holy Balinese vibe. There are some reasons to visit Ubud. The most popular answers are because of preserved Balinese traditions, have some famous tourist attractions ( As you well know, The Monkey Forest, The Great Ubud Palace, and Natural Terrace Field), have the most delicious culinary famous landmark (Warung Pondok Madu, Nomad, Casa Luna, etc), the landmark of some famous festival (Ubud Jazz Festival, Ubud Festival, International Reading and Writing Festivals, and have some holy and sacred vibes (Mentioning any recent popular culture of  yoga in Bali).

Ubud being the Town of Love?

But somehow some of the people also mention that Ubud is defitely Paris’ version of Bali being the Town of Love. Why? The answer is because of Julia Robert’s “Eat, Pray, and Love” in 2010. In the film, Elizabeth Gilbert (Julia Roberts), walking down the streets of Ubud, cycling through the rice paddies, visiting Ubud Market and seeing a Balinese medicine man in the movie “Eat, Pray, Love” in her search for balance and harmony. The main character and author of the book, Elizabeth Gilbert, spent four months in Italy, eating and enjoying life (“Eat”), before heading to India for three months in search of her spirituality (“Pray”). She ends her year in Bali and Ubud where she is looking for balance and ends up falling in love (“Love”). The book and the movie have made Ubud one of the major tourist attractions in Asia. Ubud has made to become one of spiritual tourism landmark in Southeast Asia.

Believe it or not, some of the people believe the film is new interesting pop-culture regarding Ubud. Some said that they find their love of life in Ubud, whether if its love-partner or spirituality. Many testified that after visiting Ubud, their life changes and the path would become clear. Ubud is one of the limited place where you can find peace and serenity. It also helps you ‘define’ what your true love will be.
